Beetlejuice follows the recently deceased Adam and Barbara Maitland, who, with the help of the mischievous and chaotic Beetlejuice, try to scare the new inhabitants of their home to avoid being erased. Meanwhile, Lydia Deetz, grieving her mother's death, struggles with her father's attempts to move on and is eventually manipulated by Beetlejuice into helping him become human again. As the story unfolds, Lydia and her family navigate grief, relationships, and supernatural chaos, leading to a dramatic confrontation in the Netherworld. In the end, Beetlejuice is sent back to the Netherworld, and the Maitlands, Lydia, and her family choose to live together in the haunted house.
